Sheikh Haseena and Narendra Modi Inaugurated Bangladesh Bhavan in Visva-Bharati University

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi with Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee met Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina today in Visva-Bharati University at Santiniketan. This is her second visit to India under two months. During their visit to Santiniketan, Prime Minister Modi addressed the convocation ceremony of the students in the university as well as inaugurated the Bangladesh Bhavan.

While delivering both the speeches in the ceremony Prime Minister remembered Kabi Guru Rabindranath Tagore. He said that it means a lot to him that he got the privilege to spend his valuable time on the birthplace of Gurudev. He further said that Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, i.e., the entire world is like a family. He added Kabi Guru wanted Visva-Bharati to be a shelter for the world.

It is rarely seen that the Prime ministers of two neighbouring countries have been present in a convocation ceremony. Modi also mentioned that Bangladesh and India have a good bonding and joined in collaboration (While welcoming Sheikh Hasina). He further added that two countries can learn from each other. Whether it is in the field of culture or Information Technology. Mujibur Rehman, National Father of Bangladesh is respected as same as Gurudev is respected in India.

Prime Minister also congratulated the students of the university who completed their degree at the ceremony. He wished them to achieve the success in their lives. He added that all the students are the future of this nation. They are the one who can take care of the future generation of the nation as well as the development of the country. While talking about the future of India, PM said that each and every indian have promised to make India digitally advanced by the year 2022. For that, the Government is trying it’s level best to meet all the educational requirements.

He further congratulated Sheikh Hasina and the citizens of Bangladesh for launching the first satellite. India helped Bangladesh in the field of space technology and will be supporting in future too.

While some of the students of the university fell sick due to the unavailability of water at the venue. The outsiders and the local youths have protested against this. However, some of the protestors have been identified and warned by the university officials to leave the convocation ceremony venue.

Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina held the informal meeting later on after the completion of the ceremony. The topic of Teesta water dispute is expected to arise in the meeting.
