Benchmark indices ended the session on an extremely strong note, with the midcaps too bouncing back after days of correction. Sensex clocked a fresh record high, surpassing its earlier mark of 30712, while the Nifty gained nearly 2 percent. The Sensex closed up 448.39 points at 30750.03, while the Nifty ended 140.95 points higher at 9501.50. The market breadth was healthy as 1,875 shares advanced against a decline of 807 shares, while 152 shares were unchanged.
