Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Broker

What are the commission fees?

Do they trade stocks under $1?

What order types do they include? (OCO, Conditional Orders, Limit on Stop, 1st triggers sequence, etc.).

How is the trade execution? (Laggy, fast, does it have direct routing and does that even matter for my strategy?, etc.)

What are the trading hours for that broker and does it include Pre-Market (4:00am-9:30am) and After-Hours (4:00pm-8:00pm)

What are the opening fees, maintenance fees, and/or minimum deposits?

What are the available platforms (mobile, web, software)?

Is it compatible with external execution plaforms? (DAS TRADER, STERLING TRADER, ThinkOrSwim, Trading WorkStation, etc.)

Do they offer 24/7 customer service?

Does their trading software/platform specialize in shorting? (Short-locate feature)

If they do specialize in shorting, what are their fees to borrow shares to short?

What are their margin requirements and other market data and/or platform fees? (Level 2, Futures, ETFs, Crypto, etc.)

Can you purchase Over-The-Counter (OTC) stocks? (I.e. Webull doesn’t allow OTC stocks trading vs TD Ameritrade allows it for $6.95 per order)

Is it U.S. based or overseas? (Different rules and regulations will apply)

What are some known brokers? (I cover some of them in the video below)
