KLSE Stock News- Bursa Malaysia Stock Open Slightly Higher On Thursday.

Kuala Lumpur: Bursa Malaysia share prices opened slightly higher early on Thursday with the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index was up 0.27 of a point or 0.02% to 1,688.68. Turnover was 266.86 million shares valued at RM132.76mil. There were 229 gainers, 150 losers and 175 counters unchanged.

This slight up in on the index is due to mild rebound in Dialog Group but Scientex and Daibochi diverged after their corporate exercise.

Stock To Watch

Among the KLSE gainer stock, Scientex rose 20 sen to RM8.87 after it bought a 42.4% stake in Daibochi for RM222.5mil through a share swap at 5.5 Daibochi shares for one Scientex share. Dialog rose eight sen to RM3.22, rebound from the previous day’s selling. UMW rose 13 sen to RM4.86, Hartalega nine sen to RM6.14 and Air Asia eight sen to RM2.93.

Refiners Hengyuan and Petron also climbed, with Hengyuan up eight sen to RM5.62 and Petron six sen to RM7.07.

On the KLSE stock loser front, BAT fell 68 sen to RM37.30, MPI 40 sen to RM11.58 while KESM was down 10 sen to RM10.56. Batu Kawan lost 36 sen to RM16.50, Public Bank 18 sen to RM24.34 and Top Glove 10 sen to RM5.60.

The KLSE active stock list shows, the most active stock is Tiger Synergy Bhd change -5.26% to 0.095. Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd changes 3.96% to 1.020 and Suremetric fell 3.5 sen to 45.5 sen with 20.5 million shares done as traders booked profit following its stellar debut.

Global Market

Asian markets were mostly higher led by China and Hong Kong but Japan and South Korea fell. The Hang Seng index open up at 1.17% which is 299.690 while Japan Nikkei change 0.25% to -42.860.

Forex Market

The ringgit was higher against the US dollar early Thursday. At the local front, the ringgit stood at 4.1930/1970 versus the US dollar from 4.1945/1975 at close Wednesday.

Ringgit traded lower against other major currencies. It fell against the Singapore dollar from 3.0349/0377 to 3.0437/0477 and declined against the Japanese yen from 3.6826/6859  to 3.6900/6949. It also weakened against the British pound from 5.4386/4433 to 5.4463/4519 and was lower against the euro at 4.7465/7514 from 4.7264/7314.

Commodity Market

Crude oil prices fell despite Opec’s move to reduce supplies. US light crude oil fell 26 cents to US$55.99 and Brent was down 23 cents to US$65.89.
