The Attentive Starts to November For Bursa Shares, Market Opens Lower On Early Thursday

Kuala Lumpur: Bursa Malaysia share prices opens lower on Thursday with the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index down with 4.12 points or 0.24% to 1,705.15. Turnover was 108.35 million shares valued at RM109.35mil. There were 181 gainers, 139 losers and 193 counters unchanged.

Asian stocks rose on Thursday as hurt investor sentiment got some relief from another robust Wall Street session thanks to upbeat corporate earnings.

Stock To Watch

Among the KLSE loser stocks, BAT fell the most 20 sen to RM30.50, Petronas Dagangan was 10 sen lower at RM25.90 and Digi seven sen lower at RM4.24.

Press Metal and QL Resources lost seven sen each to RM4.77 and RM6.98 while Astro shed five sen to RM1.30. Top Glove fell 11 sen to  RM5.83 but Supermax and Hartalega added six sen each to RM3.25 and RM6.31.

The KLSE stock gainer list shows, Maybank gave up some of the previous day’s gains, slipping five sen to RM9.44. Hong Leong Bank climbed six sen to RM20.44. Petronas Gas jumped 24 sen to RM18.52 and Petronas Chemical edged up six sen to RM9.41.

Heineken was one of the leading gainers in mid-morning session, rising 34 sen to RM18.34, following the release of its third-quarter earnings yesterday.

Among the top KLSE active counters for the morning session were Seacera rising three sen to 26.5 sen, Prestariang gaining 6.5 sen to 59 sen and Datasonic adding two sen to 38 sen.

Global Market

The dollar float near a 16-month high on further signs of strength in the world’s largest economy, The Hang Seng open up with 1.77% and Jpan Nikkei index go down with 1.14%

Forex Market

In the currency market, the ringgit was seen marginally weaker against the US dollar at 4.1858. It fell 0.85% against the pound sterling to 5.3781 and 0.22% against the Singapore dollar to 3.0276.

Commodity Market

In oil markets, prices came under pressure as US inventories climbed for a sixth straight week. WTI crude dropped 36 cents to US$64.95 a barrel while Brent crude fell 44 cents to US$74.60 a barrel.
