I’ll Be Next Door for Christmas is the best movie you have yet to hear about but soon will. Why? Most importantly, it has not been made yet and is set to release in 2018. However, it is all the talk in the Christmas movie circles and is perfect for people who need something to do between dinner and bed at Grandma’s house on Christmas eve.
Second, and more importantly, it is the first Christmas movie that is seeking crowdfunding to let the sophisticated person with a few extra shekels into the high stakes and high dollar world of cinema. The crowdfunding link is here (https://wefunder.com/thatchristmasmovie). The movie is in the second round of crowdfunding investment after the first picked up an easy $225k.
The producers (who all have fantastic credentials) give very compelling reasons to believe, highlighted by this chart:
This is just Box Office Revenue and doesn’t account for all of the other sources such as streaming, DVD, and even merchandise. My first takeaway is “Holy Shit, Four Christmases made $168M in the box office!!!”. Crazy. Further, target opportunity of “Christmas comedy” seems very available for another entrant as many of the highest grossing films are from decades ago.
Let’s take a quick look at payback. They are needing $850k to get this in the can (film term). Investors are paid back fully for the first 115% and then 50% after that. Taking the Four Christmas’ example from above, just the box office revenue is worth roughly 100X. Every $1000 would deliver $100,000!
And then there is the perks (insane profits are not enough!). They include an opportunity to go to the premiere which is high on my bucket list and also I want to meet Jennifer Tilly who has just been cast as one of the stars.
For full transparency, I am an investor in this opportunity. I am also considering adding to my investment in order to get some extra tickets to the premiere.
