Naked Weapon (2002)

A femme fatale trained in the art to kill by a ruthless woman knows as Madame M. Then she meets a good cop in an ice cream truck, and her life changes forever...

It seems like a superficial way to summarize this though. Maybe better with: beauty and violence. The artform of death, and sensuality, and Maggie Q.

No that doesn't work either... make of those as you will. Go watch the Movie instead. If you like action, or women, or Maggie Q.

I've watched this one a few times at this point, and the first time you can probably guess why, but it's a good movie really. Dreamy. A little like Ballistic Kiss but with a female lead, and slightly more unrealistic action sequences, and an unexpected highlight: a brutal training camp for a group of orphan girls where only one is allowed to leave, and from there on lead her life as an assassin.

It feels like the emotions could've been a bit more intense, but maybe I've just watched this enough times that it no longer feels as emotional as it is. I've become accustomed to the coldness. I watch it more for the aesthetic now. For the femme and for the fight. For the day and for the night. For the love at first sight in the ice cream truck, which is a little unconventional as far as such things go...

There's another Naked Weapon movie made later on, possibly inspired by this, but it's not on par with this one at all.

This still holds. Good romance; good action; good movie.

 rated 4/5: fo shizzle
