Rapid Ransomware

Rapid Ransomware is a file locker which might be distributed as fake software, malicious e-mail attachment, or as pirated media/content. When the Rapid Ransomware is executed, it will attempt to launch a file-encryption task whose purpose is to ensure that the victim will lose the majority of their important files. To achieve this, Rapid Ransomware uses a secure file-encryption method which targets a broad range of documents, media files archives, and other files which are likely to have valuable contents.

Naturally, the goal of Rapid Ransomware’s authors is to extort their victims for money by promising to help restore their files as soon as they pay a hefty ransom sum. In order to provide their victim with instructions, Rapid Ransomware’s operators will provide a short message which will be deployed via one of the following files – ‘!!! README !!!.txt’ or ‘How Recovery Files.txt’. Depending on the version of the ransom note delivered, the victim might be provided with a different e-mail address for contact – either [email protected] or [email protected].

Hello!
All your files have been encrypted by us
If you want restore files write on e-mail – [email protected]

Regardless of the ransom note used, Rapid Ransomware will always mark the files by using the ‘.rapid’ file extension. For example, the encrypted version of ‘document.doc’ would be renamed to ‘document.doc.rapid’. Despite the promises of the attackers, you can rest assured that sending money to them won’t help you solve the problem at hand. Keep In mind that they provide zero proof that they are capable of decrypting your files, and that’s certainly a valid reason why you should not trust them.

The recommended way to proceed if your data was taken hostage by Rapid Ransomware is to seek 3rd-party file recovery methods. Unfortunately, these tools might not always be 100% successful when there is ransomware involved, so you should keep in mind that there’s a small chance of making a full recovery. Please don’t forget that prior to using file recovery tools, you should ensure Rapid Ransomware’s full removal by running an up-to-date antivirus scanner.
