Greatsearch.org

Greatsearch.org is a Search engine that appears to be hosted on the same server as Eusearch.org, Super-search.org and Startsearch.org. Although all of the pages feature a slightly different design, comparing the ‘Privacy Policy’ section hosted on them shows that they are likely to belong to the same owners, and they work an identical way. Unfortunately, they don’t just display the same search results, but they also use the same deceiving tricks to get people to visit them on a regular basis. Naturally, few PC users would opt to use Greatsearch.org as their default new tab page or homepage when they can use popular and reputable pages like Bing, Google or Yahoo for that purpose. That’s why the companies or individuals behind less popular search engines like Greatsearch.org may use Browser hijacking software to modify the Web browser settings of users by replacing their default new tab page or homepage with Greatsearch.org.

However, browser hijackers are not unsafe, and the pages they promote rarely are associated with unsafe behavior. This is the case with Greatsearch.org – the page is perfectly safe, and using it will not expose the user to any harmful software or Web destinations. The search results that it provides are also legitimate, and the landing page features some quick links to popular websites that some users might enjoy having access to when they open their new tab page or homepage.

Continuing to use Greatsearch.org or any of its alternatives would not be a problem, but if you did not set Greatsearch.org as your default new tab page intentionally, then you might be interested in learning how to remove the page and the browser hijacking extension that brought it to your Web browser. If you want to deal with the issue manually, you should open your browser’s extension manager and remove any unknown or suspicious entries that may be linked to Greatsearch.org’s arrival. If this does not work, then you can use a trustworthy computer security tool to check for any suspicious browser extensions.
