In today’s digital media we are exposed to a lot of negative images and information that don’t necessarily accurately reflect the progress being made and the good things being done throughout the wonderfully rich society in which we live. There are so many fantastic things going on every day, but these stories are rarely heard through the mainstream media.  When you take the time to look, there are a lot of people out there doing a lot of good for our Communities, New Zealand and the world.

Here a few Websites that might give you some inspiration to get out there and make a difference.

Sir Peter Blake Trust.  Helping New Zealanders make a positive difference for the planet through activities that encourage environmental awareness, adventure and leadership in action.

Anew New Zealand.  An independent, non-partisan network of motivated and concerned New Zealanders, creating greater levels national wellbeing and sustainability through public and Community engagement.

Inspiring Stories.  A New Zealand charitable trust growing our next generation of social entrepreneurs and enterprise.  The Trust has been operating since 2010 and has developed a diverse range of programs and events that support young New Zealanders in order to foster their potential for changing the world.

The New Zealand Edge.  A new way of thinking about identity, people, stories, achievements and their role in the world. Home to a global community of New Zealanders.

The Peace Foundation.  A non-profit Organisation working through education, research and action to build peaceful relationships among people of all ages and cultures, both in New Zealand and overseas.  They give people and communities the resources to establish and maintain peaceful and non-violent relationships by teaching skills that encourage better communication, co-operation and non-violent conflict resolution.

New Zealand Housing Foundation.  Making it possible for ordinary kiwis to own their own home.  Providing various options to help with financing so overtime people can afford to purchase properties outright.

Inspiring Communities.  This organisation creates change through effective community lead development, and by building strong, sustainable local communities.

Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust.  Committed to saving the forest and restoring the birdlife within it.  They work in partnership with DOC, local government and iwi, and are committed to raising awareness of the natural values of the forest and educating people at all levels.

Vision West.  A community development based organisation, with a holistic approach to services and supports that care for all people physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually.

This list is only a tiny fraction of the many websites out there who are run by people doing their best to create a better future for generations to come.  So many New Zealanders are out there encouraging and Inspiring others to get involved to help people, communities, our country and the world – and hopefully seeing this in action will inspire others to take part as well.
