If you’re longing for adventure head north to the tropical paradises of Cairns, Palm Cove or Port Douglas.

Set not too far apart, these three destinations are the gateway to the Daintree, the world’s oldest rainforest. Immerse yourself in the ancient emerald beauty and catch a glimpse of the elusive cassowary. There are wildlife experiences aplenty, from crocodiles to butterflies to bats, as well as stunning scenery and secret waterholes to cool off in. Cairns is also the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, another unmissable natural wonder. For an intimate experience try one of the snorkelling tours!

If you’re holidaying in the south but still seeking a rainforest fix, just 45 minutes inland from the sun and sand of the Gold Coast is another world entirely. Springbrook National Park is a lush wilderness formed by an ancient volcanic eruption, paradise for nature-lovers and adventurers. Get ready for crystal waterfalls, huge strangler figs, and caves lit by glow-worms. There are excellent walking and hiking trails for beginners to the more advanced.
