Winter brings lots of restrictions with itself. Days are short, less of sun shine warmth, snow covered surroundings, slippery roads make venturing out a big trouble. There are many events that mark winter to be a delightful season. Events such as New Year’s Festival, Christmas market will infuse festive soul in city life. All the streets are lit up for festival and turns deep dark winter night into a glowing and starry one. Local delicacies and handmade goodies are to be procured on such events. 

Winter will not hold you back from enjoying at the white capped Mourne Mountains, where Narnia was created. Snow covered peaks of Mayo’s Croagh Patrick that glisten in sun shine will not stop you from being awestruck with the natural beauty Ireland has to offer. Further south, the rugged landscape of Cork’s Beara Peninsula is only embellished by the howling winds and crashing waves that whip along its incredible coastline.

The winter solstice spectacle has to be at New Grange in County Meath’s Brú Na Bóinne, where an annual lottery draw takes place to enter the burial mound for its phenomenal 5,000-year-old light show. At Slieve Gullion in County Armagh, the southern passage tomb has a winter solstice alignment at sunset; while Beaghmore in County Tyrone will allow you to watch the sunrise align with the stone rows.
