Since Voip Phone or business VoIP has become popular amongst the world masses and is increasing to gain repute day by day due to its cost-savings, now a common question tickles in heart whether it is tax free! For the answer, it is clear that not all the VoIP phones are levied by any state tax or the ilk. The United States government is treating it as a light information tool. The bill has been made and will be presented in the senate for approval explaining that the VoIP phones and other Internet based tools would be taken under information service.
Sununu (senator) and a representative Charles also likes to present another similar bill in the senate expressing that clarity about the product is very essential to provide all the sellers and customers of VoIP phone. Michael Powell, who is the chairperson of FCC, is of the view that business VoIP phones should be free from the regulations of state.
Sununu expresses that the set laws do not define the VoIP phone properly. In this bill, the calls that are done from conventional phone lines and then sent to Internet protocol system then switched to conventional lines again, would not be free from state regulations.
He further chips in, “A few people are around who like to give the bill re-writing. This piece of writing is what is not required to re-write decade after decade. We don’t want to squash this innovative technology.”
This bill is titled ‘VoIP Regulatory Freedom Act’ and will let the FCC to work on it by the next 180 days.
The spokesperson of FCC did not utter anything on the bill but a representative of NARUC asks the need for the legislation. The opinion says that the personnel of state are to be actively participated in the protection of customers like is VoIP phone service swathed with the improved 911 emergency feature.
FCC department does not have any skills to act and respond to clients’ complains like the problem of interruption. As per the other opinion on the bill, it is said that if a particular technology is focused then the law should be re-written afterward.
VoIP phone is a toll that is gaining repute in the market. And it has touched the perfection now. Thus it is better to make it tax-free forever if a boost and success in this business is to be witnessed.
