.ashx Extension files are attachment files which you get while downloading from outlook webapp or something similar to that. Its very simple to open this kind of a file.
Just Right click on the file and rename it as
abc.zip or abc.rar or abc.pdf etc
If you know the extension of the file from where you have downloaded then you could try on of the above names.
This will also work on Windows XP. In case if you are not getting the file extensions along with the file name You need to edit the Layout and folder options.

- Open my computer in Windows 7
- Click on organize and then click on folder and search options.
- In view option uncheck "Hide extensions of known file types"
