In the near future, TikTok will add games to its app , as a way to keep its audience entertained for longer. TikTok’s commitment to gaming will be gradual, first with very simple mini-games, but it will gain ambition over time, according to leaks.

Apparently, TikTok would already be testing the games in Vietnam , something that fits in with this type of initiative. Social networks often experience their novelties with closed groups or specific countries, and then make the leap to the global market.

The games would be designed in HTML5 , that is, the language with which web pages are created. Therefore, they would be very simple minigames , based on two-dimensional graphics, far from the advanced 3D titles that can already be played on mobile phones.

Although it is possible to enter TikTok from the computer, Android and iPhone smartphones are the objective of the Chinese company. Apparently, the TikTok games would be developed by external companies, and among them would be Zynga , known for the popular FarmVille.

For now, it is ruled out that external creators can upload their own games, only those TikTok partners will offer them. They will be funded by advertising , apparently part of the profits will go directly to the developers.

TikTok would launch its new games during the third quarter of 2022 in the Asia Pacific area , without the leaks pointing to specific dates for the rest of the world. In the Douyin app, the Chinese version of TikTok, there have been mini-games since 2019, so the news is not so unexpected.

The company will start with short and very simple games , but it has hopes pinned on gaming, so over time it will try to make them evolve.

Based on ads, the time spent by users is critical to the business. The games will help keep the public in the app for longer, something essential to earn money on TikTok and keep your business model growing.
