Is Apple breaking up? It seems so, something that until recently was unthinkable . These are confusing times, while Android slowly improves the terrible fragmentation of the OS and extends the update periods, Apple seems to be forgetting what differentiates it from the competition.

There are rumors that in the next Apple presentation only the iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will have the new A16 Bionic , why? That is what we will try to understand below.

Apple wants to raise the bar on exclusivity

We don’t know for sure why Apple wants to include the new A16 Bionic chip only in the iPhone 14 Max and 14 Pro Max, but we can assume it’s exclusivity . If you want the best of the best, you’re going to have to go for one of these two models and that just means you’ll have to spend more.

In the latest Apple presentations we have seen four models: the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. According to the leaks, in this new generation we will see four other models , but not the same ones: they will be the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

iPhone minis are a thing of the past

From this list we can draw several conclusions, one of them is that Apple will no longer develop mini versions of its star phones . It is likely that the iPhone SE will exclusively cover the demand for compact mobiles from now on.

However, the iPhone 14 and 14 Max will arrive with a screen diagonal of 6.1 inches , a compact size if we compare it with the average dimensions of the rest of current mobiles. In contrast, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a diagonal of 6.7 inches.

An A Bionic chip for everyone? seems not

The size of the new iPhone will not be by far the most important difference between these phones. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will be faster , they will have 6 GB of RAM like their two smaller brothers but in LPDDR 5 format.

And of course, they will be the only two models that will debut the A16 Bionic chip , making them even more exclusive among some of the most coveted mobiles, year after year. A marketing strategy? It is probable. Or perhaps there is a more technical explanation in the background, we will not know for sure until Apple officially presents these models.
