I mentioned before that I had contacted Tmobile many times due to Phone issues with my 6S/7.

It turns out that yesterday they surprised me and called me to see how I was doing. They said that they saw I had called 3 times in a short period of time and wanted to know how I was doing. I took this an opportunity to explain that the problem was still happening and I was unhappy.

The support person offered to help me. He explained that upgrading to a 7 wouldn’t fix the issue since it had the same band used to transmit. Only an iPhone XR had the newer band they supported better. So I bought that phone and traded in this phone. I have to have reliable phone connectivity for my job.

So part of his “fix” was to send me a new sim card. I took care of iPhones and iPad for companies in the past and rarely was an issue fixed with a new sim card. Maybe twice out of hundreds of sim looking issues. Anyway, I put in the sim card today and guess what? The phone brings up a webpage that says “This sim card is not compatible with your data plan.”

I just got off the phone with them. Apparently they needed to manually put in the sim number and have me reboot the phone. It is working now. Interesting. When Apple puts in the sim card in a new phone it seems to instantly activate. I bet they have priority access to activate phones.

I am not thrilled about having to buy a new device to get acceptable service. Still TMobile is cheaper and better than Verizon even with this issue. I wonder if combining with Sprint will hurt their excellent service. The tech explained that being able to share the Sprint towers would increase service quality for all iPhone users, so that is a win. Still having three main cell companies is concerning.

AT&T is the worst, then Sprint, then Verizon and then Tmobile has been the best. I hope that cell phone companies get more competition soon.
