Judge Rules IP Addresses Not "Personally Identifiable"

From Slashdot: Judge Rules IP Addresses Not "Personally Identifiable".

Thank god, finally.

There are so many manners by which somebody could use your IP address without you even knowing about it. It's a shame this has to be ruled by a judge when it's just basic common sense to people who actually understand how computers and networks work...

It makes me wonder how will the law will cope with the ever growing complexity of technology. How will judges be able to make judgment without even understanding what they are ruling about?
