The Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is expected to provide cashless medical treatment to approximately 3.5 crore beneficiaries, which amounts to around 70 lakh families across the state.

Under this program, individuals who seek healthcare services at state government health facilities, ranging from district to sub-centre levels, will receive these services free of charge, regardless of their income, place of residence, or social status. All women beneficiaries will receive an extra Rs 2,00,000 as health insurance coverage.

A total of 4,036 healthcare packages have been finalized under this scheme, with package rates being rationalized to align with current treatment costs. This initiative aims to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to a wider population.

Components of BSKY Yojana

• Drop Back Assistance: As part of this initiative, pregnant women and sick infants who visit public health facilities will receive financial assistance in the form of Rs 500. It aims to alleviate the financial burden associated with travel and enhance access to healthcare services for pregnant women and sick infants.
• Health Insurance: The government is committed to offering comprehensive health coverage for residents of the state who belong to economically weaker sections. Under this plan, individuals will receive Rs 5 lakh in annual health coverage, while women members of the family will be provided with Rs 7 lakh in annual health coverage. This health insurance initiative is set to benefit approximately 70 lakh economically disadvantaged families, ensuring their access to essential healthcare services without being financially burdened 
• Free Health Care Services: Within this scheme, the government is committed to offering free healthcare services to all individuals, regardless of their income, social status, or place of residence. These healthcare services will be accessible from the sub-centre level up to the district headquarter hospital level.
