Microsoft is planning to bring its new AI-powered assistant, Microsoft 365 Copilot, to OneNote to aid users in writing their notes.
The Assistant was initially unveiled last month for popular apps like Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint, and it’s now set to impact note-taking as well.
Greg Mace, OneNote’s product manager, explains that Copilot will serve as a “notetaking partner” and will be able to generate ideas, create lists, organize information, and more based on user prompts.

Similar to its integration in Word, the AI assistant will be able to reformat, summarize, or rewrite the existing text in OneNote through a sidebar interface.
Users can also ask the assistant to generate topics and talking points for meetings or create a plan for an event.
Though Microsoft has not yet demonstrated the inline integration of Copilot in OneNote, the assistant is already being tested by some Microsoft 365 enterprise customers.
Microsoft is extensively testing Copilot before launching it more broadly and has not committed to any release dates yet.
