Another Romanian rowing crew qualifies for 2024 Summer Olympics

Romania’s Women’s Double Sculls (W2x) reigning Olympic crew made up of Simona Radis and Ancuta Bodnar on Friday progressed to Final A at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, thus qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Romania’s Men’s Eight (M8+) crew made up of Sergiu Bejan, Marius Cozmiuc, Stefan Berariu, Mihaita Tiganescu, Mugurel Semciuc, Florin Lehaci, Bogdan Baitoc, Alexandru Danciu and Adrian Munteanu, emerged victorious in Friday’s repechage, after an extraordinary finish, and made it to Final A. The crew is also very close to qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games, as the first five finalists will do.

Ciprian Tudosa and Florin Arteni came in fourth in the Men’s Double Sculls (M2x) semi-final, thus advancing to Final B.

Six Romanian rowing crews have so far qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics:

Women’s Pair (W2-): Roxana Anghel and Ioana Vrinceanu
Men’s Pair (M2-): Marius Cozmiuc and Sergiu Bejan
Women’s Double Sculls (W2x): Simona Radis and Ancuta Bodnar
Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls (LW2x): Ionela Cozmiuc and Mariana Dumitru
Women’s Four (W4-): Madalina Beres, Maria Tivodariu, Amalia Beres and Magdalena Rusu
Women’s Quadruple Sculls (W4x): Emanuela Ciotau, Andrada Morosanu, Cristina Druga and Patricia Cires.
