Pakistan Rangers arrested 6 Indian arms and drugs smugglers

Pakistan Rangers personnel have arrested six Indian arms and drugs smugglers at a border post.

According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Tuesday, the Indian nationals were caught from Pakistani side of the border. They were detained from July 29 to August 3, the ISPR added.

The ISPR statement alleged that the arrested Indians were involved in smuggling of drugs and weapons.

The ISPR said that it is surprising that these smugglers could cross the heavily-fenced border under perpetual surveillance of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). It shows likely complicity of BSF troops in narco and weapons smuggling as the Indian border force has so far failed to report six missing citizens, the ISPR added.

The ISPR statement said that these smugglers/criminals were trying to smuggle narcotics, weapons and ammunition into Pakistan and were arrested attempting to infiltrate Pakistani territory.

Four of these smugglers, namely Gurmeej son of Guldeep Singh, Shinder Singh son of Bhora Singh, Juginder Singh son of Thakur Singh and Vishal son of Jagga belong to Ferozpur, Rattan Pal Singh son of Mahinder Singh belongs to Jalandhar and Garvender Singh son of Mukhtiar Singh belongs to Ludhiana.

The ISPR said that these Indian smugglers will be dealt as per law of the land for illegally entering into Pakistan and indulging in nefarious activities.

It said that the security forces of Pakistan will continue to maintain vigil and expect that Indian BSF will act professionally and sever their ties with smuggling rackets operating from their territory.

The latest development came a day after one Pakistani civilian was martyred and three others suffered injuries when Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing from the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Kashmir.

The ISPR had said Indian Army resorted to unprovoked firing in Nikial Sector, targeting innocent civilians resulting in Shahadat of an old aged (60 years) individual named Ghias, resident of Village Oli, District Kotli and traumatized three women while cutting grass in the fields.
