Sindh Govt releases Prisoners on Eid ul Adha

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced a reduction in the sentences of prisoners on Eid-ul-Adha.

According to reports, IG Jails Sindh Anwar Mustafa has said that 8 prisoners have been released from jails across Sindh and 304 sentences have been reduced, and another 4 from IG Karachi Central Jail, District Jail Malir, and Central Jail Sukkur.

Apart from this, he said that the sentences of 64 prisoners of Hyderabad Jail were reduced while the sentences of 61 prisoners of Khairpur Jail, 52 of Karachi Central Jail, and 41 of Sukkur Jail were reduced. While IG Jail Khana Sindh said that the sentences of 24 inmates of Central Jail Mirpurkhas and 23 inmates of Larkana Jail were reduced.

Anwar Mustafa said that the prisoners of treason, anti-nationalism, and serious crimes will not get the benefit of a reduction in punishment. It should be noted that, on the other hand, due to Eid-ul-Adha, the process of execution of prisoners was stopped across the country, while according to the report, due to Eid-ul-Adha, the process of execution of death-sentenced prisoners was stopped in prisons across the country, including Adiala Jail. According to the decision, it will be started in the last ten days of September.

On the other hand, several ATMs in the country broke down before Eid-ul-Adha and many of them ran out of cash. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the purchase of animals and other essential items continues and a large number of citizens are engaged in shopping. A day before Eid, many ATMs broke down and cash ran out in many, banks’ helplines also stopped working.

Citizens are facing serious problems to withdraw their own money. Citizens complained that as soon as Eid is approaching, it has become normal for ATMs to go offline. However, it should be noted that Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated in the country and there are public holidays until July 1.
