During Modi’s recent visit to America, many deals were entered into to strengthen the diplomatic & economic ties between Delhi & Washington. Highlighted also was the desire to invest in private sectors giving it a boost.
All the good things achieved by Modi for his country during the visit, was eclipsed by his issuing a Joint Statement with Biden stating, “India and the US “strongly condemned” cross-border terrorism and called on Pakistan to disallow the use of its soil for terrorist attacks in a joint statement that declared the two countries “among the closest partners in the world”.

Not only the comment by Modi, still remembered as the “Butcher of Gujrat” who was denied a U.S visa, and could not enter U.S space for nearly a decade on grounds of “severe violations of religious freedom.” That too making this statement while on American soil. U.S in the meanwhile is literally turning a blind eye to the human rights violations happening in India under Modi’s watch. “Last week, Human Rights Watch (HRW) urged the White House to put rights concerns at “the center” of the Modi-Biden summit.” {CNN News}

The situation can be read thus: U.S sees India as the speed breaker to the rise of China globally. Not possible as India lags behind China by cosmic years. Pakistan’s closeness to China makes it the ideal whipping dog. Washington & China both know, even if Islamabad wanted, it cannot indulge itself in conducting terrorism activities owing to a political, judicial, and economic ongoing crisis it been grappling for quite a while.
This is not to ignore the fact that Pakistan has mishandled her policies, external & internal both, miserably. Enough to make herself internationally irrelevant.
