ISLAMABAD: In the wake of the commotion caused by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest, many political leaders have lined up to announce they are parting ways with PTI.
According to a Baaghi TV report, after the destruction and chaos caused by PTI supporters on May 9, to denounce the arrest of their political Leader hailed as a ‘messiah’ in Pakistani politics, many senior party leaders and former federal ministers have announced their decision to part ways from the PTI.

The latest among them is former Federal Minister Ali Zaidi who has released a video statement. Zaidi who belongs to Karachi, said: “I announce my resignation from Tehreek-e-Insaf and politics.”
The political said expressed regret concerning the May 9 events adding that the reaction of the public has compelled him to quit politics.
Zaidi further said: “I am resigning from all posts of PTI. I served Pakistan and came into politics for Pakistan. The events of May 9 were condemnable and will I do it again. [The] Pakistan armed forces are our pride it is due to them that we sleep peacefully because they protect our borders. What happened is wrong. Whoever is involved in this must be brought to justice. After a lot of thought, I have made this difficult decision. I will try to serve Pakistan.”

On the other hand, senior PTI leader from South Punjab and former Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar has also announced the decision to step down from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf. Releasing a video message of his own, Bakhtiar said that a year ago he had informed the top leadership of the party it would be harmful to show favoritism with the institutions.
Bakhtiar added that he had left the membership of PTI’s core committee and the chairmanship of South Punjab a year ago. However, the heart-wrenching events of May 9 have forced him to step away from PTI’s philosophy. The leader reiterated that his twenty-five years of local, provincial, and national projects have compelled him to step down. He added that he “can’t work with the political philosophy of Tehreek-i-Insaaf anymore”.
Khusro Bakhtiar added: “I believe that the future of Pakistan is not in the politics of division and confrontation.”
