LOS ANGELES: Giving a rare insight into her life behind the camera, Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra, opened up about her family life in an interview with Hoda Kotb.
According to reports, Chopra shared details from her private life about her daughter Malti, 1, and husband Nick Jonas, 30. Speaking with Kotb, Chopra remarked Nick Jonas is “the most secure man I’ve ever been with”.
The actress who has recently appeared in Citadel (2023), was all praises for her husband whom she referred to as her “support”. Peeling back the layers of her life behind the scenes, Chopra recalled the strength Jonas provided to her the day their daughter Malti Marie Jonas was born, via surrogate.

The Quantico (2015) actor recalled that her daughter had arrived prematurely: “I remember he just held me by my shoulders, and I said, ‘Just tell me what to do, because I don’t know what to do,'”. Speaking with Hoda Kotb of Today, Chopra said that after the couple drove to the hospital and their daughter was born, “She’s never been without one of us, ever.”

At the time, Priyanka Chopra recalls she “had to be her strength as her mom” because the newborn stayed in the NICU for over a hundred days. Talking about the tough time, Chopra remarked that although she didn’t have the “luxury to be scared” the ordeal felt like it was a test for her daughter.
“I needed to make her feel at every given moment that she’s not alone.” elaborated Chopra. In another rare comment, the Baywatch (2017) star said her daughter finds comfort in Hildi lullabies, which she herself grew up with. The doting mother added the couple hopes to raise Malti as a bilingual speaker so she can connect with her roots.

During the interview, Chopra recalled that prior to his death, her father had been her cheerleader, a position that has now been filled by Nick Jonas. Addressing their age difference, Chopra said that when she initially met Jonas she felt things would not work out as he was twenty-five years old and she wanted to “settle down”. At the time, Chopra said she wanted to have a baby, but Jonas soon proved that he “is just like an old soul. He’s stability in human form”.
The couple has been together for five years, marrying in 2018, and continues to be very much in love. Praising her husband, Chopra said: “He’s the most secure man I’ve ever been with. He gets extremely excited at my wins.”

The White Tiger (2021) actor added that Jonas “fixes my dress when I walk off stage and makes sure it looks right when I’m on the carpet.” The diva continued she feels safe with her husband and wishes it for others.

On the other hand, talking about her recent visit to India Chopra said, “I was very emotional”. It is worth mentioning that this was her first trip back home with her daughter who is now fifteen months old. During her appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham, the actor said, “It was so magical”.

Chopra, 40, appeared on the Jess Cagle show on April 28, where she spoke about her trip to India with her husband and daughter, accompanied by her mother, Madhu Chopra. She said that her mother had been “very excited” to show the toddler her grandfather’s desk at their Indian residence.
The Fashion (2008) actor added her daughter toured the city “eating all kinds of Indian food with my mom and my friends”. In a recent interview with E! News, Chopra said she was grateful for the love and support she received from the Bollywood industry “that taught me everything I know” during her visit to India.
