ISLAMABAD (1 Feb 2023): Senior PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf) leader Fawad Chaudhry’s case was heard in a local court in Islamabad.
During the hearing, Babar Awan read out the FIR registered against Fawad Chaudhary. Babar Awan said that the clause of spreading hatred against the state was added to Fawad Chaudhary’s FIR when the Election Commission is not a state or government, but merely an authority.

There are very few decisions of constitutional courts on sedition provisions. When the season of sedition cases came, there were two such decisions of the High Court. The nation does not believe that these provisions should be imposed on someone for speaking 2 words, he stated.
While giving remarks, the court said that half of Fawad Chaudhary’s speech is to the extent of criticism. What does it mean that people will take them to their homes? Babar Awan said that it is an idiom. The judge remarked that Fawad Chaudhary is a senior lawyer and such ignorance cannot be expected from him. Babar Awan said that no case can be made on Fawad Chaudhary’s conversation.
The judge asked the lawyer do you know the literacy rate in Pakistan? In response, Babar Awan said that Fawad Chaudhary’s conversation was unnecessary, but it does not make a case.

The judge remarked, “how can you expect that such talk from a leader will not result in any reaction? Earlier such words were said about a female judge, will they apologize later in this case as well?”
Do not do anything for which you will have to apologize later, remarked the judge.
The bail of Fawad Chaudhary was approved in the local court of Islamabad, in exchange for 20,000 PKR. The judge said that he is giving bail to Fawad Chaudhary on the condition that he will not repeat such a conversation.
