Qasim Ali Shah trolled by PTI leaders, supporters

In a world where intellectualism and difference of opinion are frowned upon, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and its die-hard supporters thrive. As American astronomer, skeptic, and science blogger Phil Plait believes, “I’m tired of ignorance held up as inspiration, where vicious anti-intellectualism is considered a positive trait, and where uninformed opinion is displayed as fact.”

Social media users, especially those with affiliations and/or links to PTI, have engaged in a smear campaign against the motivational speaker, calling him the worst names possible. It is worth mentioning that Shah met with Imran Khan some days prior, following which he claimed he had interviewed the political figure and asked him various questions, a meeting during which the “sadiq” and “ameen” figure had offered a party ticket to Shah.

Since then, he has also met up with the current PM Shehbaz Sharif, and conducted a similar interview. In the wake of the meetings, Qasim Ali Shah expressed his views claiming that there is a “flexibility” in Sharif which is absent in Khan. Shah elaborated that, unlike the ruling PM, the former PM is of the view that the “decisions to be made on the Day of Judgement should be made in this world”.

After this statement surfaced, the PTI social media brigade put on their cloaks and assumed their positions as keyboard warriors for a “good cause”, abusing and maligning Shah for his opinion of a meeting between him and their political leader.

In this regard, PTI leader Usman Dar shared a video message, stating, “A magician named Qasim Ali Shah secretly came to the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce to avoid humiliation. If I had known that this painter was coming back, I would have personally welcomed this hypocrite with eggs and tomatoes along with the great people of Sialkot and sent him back after updating his software.”

It is worth mentioning that Qasim Ali Shah severely criticized the PTI in a video saying, “Let them first prove that there is justice within their party. On what basis did they appoint the Chief Minister? So what justice will they bring to a party which does not have justice within itself?” Sharing this video, one user wrote, “He is the only motivational speaker in the world who is telling the youth, on the subject of leadership, to stop dreaming. If you consider the messaging, this person wants to hand over the next generation to the laboratory. It should be noted that Qasim Ali Shah did not only criticize Imran Khan, but he has also criticized Muslim League-N many times before.”

In another tweet, the PTI leader wrote, the “social media workers of Tehreek-e-Insaaf are continuously “motivating” Qasim Ali Shah without any compensation. This passion to eliminate the hypocrisy from the country is unprecedented”.

In yet another tweet, the PTI leader targeted Shah by saying, “Qasim Ali Shah calls himself a motivational speaker on the one hand and on the other hand tells the youth not to dream big. This is an example of a coke addict, who lectures people on the harms of cocaine and yet continues to take cocaine himself.”

Another user tweeted, “Qasim Ali Shah does not understand that we are [the] Pakistani nation who are the soldiers of Quaid-e-Azam and Captain Khan”.

Another user tweeted, “A child was returning from work. On the way, Qasim Ali Shah gave him a lift and asked him, ‘What is your biggest wish?’ The child replied, ‘to buy a motorcycle’. On this Shah g’s inner motivational speaker woke up and said, ‘You should dream big dreams, dream of a plane.’ The child responded, ‘Let me out, I will walk on foot’.”

One other user wrote: “‘I have taught judges and general’, Qasim Ali Shah. That’s when the ship sank.”

“Golden Words of Imran Khan during Qasim Ali Shah interview…”, tweeted Hassan Mughal.

Meanwhile, Salman Durrani, Political editor for @realpakaffairs tweeted, “Now youth is motivating Qasim Ali Shah.”

On the other hand, Siasat.pk tweeted, “There is a large number of negative comments being posted on Qasim Ali Shah’s Google Maps profile”.

Another user wrote, “If hypocrisy had a face. @hinaparvezbutt #Qasim_Ali_Shah”

“Qasim Ali Shah’s historical beating #wrongnumber Qasim Ali Shah foundation’s rating on Google dropped to 1 after his anti Imran remarks”, wrote social media user Maria Malik.

Meanwhile, another wrote, “So called motivational speaker @Official_QAS is being well motivated by the motivated youth of Pakistan, motivated by the one man army of @ImranKhanPTI”.

These tweets are evidence that anyone who dares to express their opinion which is not in alignment with the vision of, or in consideration to, PTI’s chief Khan’s “character” inevitably leads to malicious campaigns on social media. If such incidents continue, we will only continue to give way to negative representation not only for the country and its people but also to help our enemies in their mission of harming the national and political integrity of the state.

Should we not all choose to educate ourselves instead of picking baseless fights on social media? Choose to look at a situation from all its different aspects and learn and, even relearn, our existing ideologies if we so wish for our homeland to prosper?

Do you think it should be acceptable to malign others if they do not stand in support of our ideologies, or our political representatives? Or should we learn to be more compassionate and focus on the ultimate goal – Pakistan’s development and prosperity?
