The Most Popular Cars In America For 2022

From SUVs to sedans, pick-ups to hatchbacks, Americans have no shortage of choices when it comes to choosing their ideal vehicle. Whether they're looking for plenty of cargo space, easy handling or even flashy paint, buyers can find any vehicle that suits their particular ''automobile'' needs.

However, there are some features of the vehicle that everyone can appreciate. Fuel efficiency and affordability never go out of style, especially as supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic have driven up the price of both new and used cars. A new vehicle is now 13% more expensive than the market average from just a year ago, while the average customer's used car will cost an incredible 27% more than at the beginning of 2021.

Curious to find out how these trends have shaped consumer preferences, the research team at Insurify crunched the numbers to identify the most popular vehicles in America for 2022.

Key points:

Honda lands on top! While Honda, Ford, Toyota and Chevrolet have two car models ranked among the ten most popular vehicles in 2022, Honda edges out the competition with its two best cars – Accord and Civic placed first and third place. Together, these two models make up 5.8% of all vehicles on the Road in 2022.

Popular but not dominant. The ten most popular cars in America are certainly widespread, but that doesn't mean they monopolize the roads. Combined, the ten most common car models in America account for 19.8% of all cars in the United States.

Accessibility in the foreground. In November 2021, the average selling price of a new car in America was $46,329 – a record high – according to Kelley Blue Book. Vehicle prices have risen dramatically over the past year and are expected to rise even higher in 2022. among the ten most popular cars in America, however, costs remain more reasonable. The average selling price of the ten most common cars in America is just $24,990, which is slightly more than half the national average.

Regional preferences. Everyone knows that the geographic regions of America have their differences in areas such as food or vernacular, but it turns out that they also have different preferences in vehicles. Honda sedans, especially the Accord, dominate the East and West coasts, while the Ford F-series pickup truck is extremely popular throughout the mountain west and great plains regions. Interestingly, the Nissan Altima also appealed to southern drivers, while drivers in the central Midwest preferred the Chevrolet Malibu.
