WhatsApp Allows Users To Select HD As Default Image Resolution
WhatsApp introducing a new feature that will compresses all the images and videos unless user share them as documents. And many users get annoyed by the reducing in quality of images and videos shared through Whatsapp. Last year, the app introduced the ability to share HD (4K resolution) quality media, but users have to explicitly select that option.
WhatsApp to bring the ability to select HD quality as the Default resolution setting for sending images and videos and no need to select the HD option every time.
The Meta-owned company is testing a feature that lets user choose the default image and video quality for all the messages. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing an option in the app's Storage And Data settings that lets you choose between ‘Standard' and ‘HD' quality for all the images and videos that you share.
Currently this feature is only available on WhatsApp beta version 2.24.7.17 and users can now set the media quality to upload to either standard or HD quality. By default, it is set to standard quality, where, WhatsApp will compress the media file to save device storage and internet.
By enabling this HD option, every photo or video shared will be in high resolution. However, it will consume more data and storage and time, especially when sharing multiple media files at once.
The company did not announce any specific release dates, but it can be assumed that, after a thorough testing WhatsApp could release this feature to all Android users.
Currently, when someone shares images and videos, he has to select the HD option every single time. Not too many WhatsApp users even know about this handy option. It can’t be shared HD quality images and videos by default. It has to be enabled first.
Once this feature is rolled out, the usage of HD quality might increase. Hopefully this feature will make easier to share higher-quality media for those who shares lots of HD quality images and videos for different purposes.
