WhatsApp Finally Releases Swipeable Navigation Bar

Meta owned WhatsApp's new Swipeable Navigation Bar feature makes users thumb access easier.

WhatsApp has been testing out an innovative menu bar style for about a year.  According to a beta tester, the updated navigation bar will replace the previous top navigation bar and will include the new “Communities” section. “Status” section has now been changed to “Updates.”

The latest layout includes four options - “Chats,” “Updates,” “Communities,” and “Calls.” This is a change from the previous layout, which had a larger tab for Chats, Status, and Calls and a smaller one for Communities. WhatsApp claims that the redesigned bottom bar is positioned to make thumb easier to access.

This update is now available to the WhatsApp Beta users over the past few months. Some of the beta users also reported that the interface sometimes disappeared entirely for them.

The iPhone users have been using the bottom navigation bar for a long time now. However, the navbar on the iPhone version of WhatsApp looks little bit different and includes a dedicated “Settings” button that is missing in the Android app.

This update facilitates simple tab navigation through side swipes. Users are seeing the feature across their devices after the app's Play Store changelog was updated properly.
