LinkedIn Introducing Short Videos Similar to Instagram, Facebook

LinkedIn working on showing a short-form video feed, similar to reels on Instagram. The feature is currently being tested and very soon it will be available to all Linkedin users.

Professional social media platform LinkedIn is used by millions of people around the world. The platform has been looked upon as a professional space that an employee opens up for either networking or looking for better opportunities for a long time. However, LinkedIn might be more than just a job-search website. A recent Report said that the platform is thinking of including games to keep job-seekers entertained. Now, LinkedIn has confirmed that it is also working on a short-form videos feature aka reels.

According to Techcrunch, LinkedIn told the publication that it is introducing a short-form video feed to the platform. This update marks a significant departure from LinkedIn's traditional landscape, for increasing engagement within its community.

LinkedIn also told TechCrunch that videos are the short format for learning for its users. Hence, the feature is being tested so that users can easily find relevant videos that they are looking for. The report also added that the feature is in its development stage as of now and most people won't be able to use it.

The introduction of the short-form video feed represents not only just a technological upgrade; it also represents a cultural change within the LinkedIn community. This new feature will encourage aspiring entrepreneurs, each user brings a unique perspective to the table.

An earlier report by TechCrunch had revealed that LinkedIn is also planning to introduce gaming. The report said that the company is developing puzzle games, Queens, Inference, and Crossclimb, which is similar to the popular puzzle game Wordle was acquired by The New York Times in back in 2022 and gained huge popularity.

While speaking to TechCrunch, a LinkedIn spokesperson, had also confirmed the launching gaming initiative but didn't mention a launch date. The spokesperson said that these puzzle games wants to add enjoyment to the platform, strengthen relationships, and stimulate conversations.
