YouTube Shorts Turns Comments into Short Videos!

YouTube Shorts comments have been made convertible into Youtube Shorts videos, as the platform delves into engaging its audience with a vertical feed of continuous content, akin to its competitors like TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram. The YouTube team has initiated an intriguing experiment, currently limited to a select group of Android and iOS users, wherein viewers can transform a comment from a video clip they're watching into a standalone Shorts video.

This novel feature, termed "viewer-created Shorts featuring comments," has some peculiarities, in addition to its constrained availability. Creators won't have the liberty to control which comments are used to create Shorts, and they won't be informed when new content emerges from their uploaded video comments. Furthermore, the authors of the original comments will also remain oblivious to this occurrence.

As for visibility, the experimental feature will only be accessible to a limited percentage of Android and iOS viewers. Though no screenshots have been provided to depict how it will appear, the new Shorts will be discoverable on the creator's channel's home page, apart from the standard Shorts feed.

However, this feature's limitations are accompanied by a workaround for creators to avoid having their comments converted into Shorts. They can disable comments on their videos, as suggested by the YouTube support team. The full extent of this experimental feature's future release is uncertain, as YouTube often conducts unpublicized experiments.

YouTube also regularly conducts intriguing experiments on YouTube and YouTube Music users. Recently, select YouTube Premium subscribers witnessed extended previews while scrubbing through the seek bar on the web platform. While some of these tests prove promising, others attempt to fix elements that aren't broken.

Despite being a tad behind the trend, YouTube Shorts has capitalized on the fascination surrounding short-form vertical video content, popularized primarily by TikTok and quickly embraced by Instagram's Reels. The platform's vast user base already enjoys diverse content such as music videos, gaming streams, educational materials, and podcasts, making the inclusion of Shorts a natural progression in the service's evolution.
