Most images and links posted before December 2014 are currently being deleted by a bug on X, the social media network formerly known as Twitter. No matter where they are or what device they are using, the malfunction appears to be impacting all users and this is the latest Twitter Bug.

On Saturday, August 20, 2023, the first report of the bug was received. Users realised that tweets with images and links from before December 2014 were no longer accessible. The bug also made it difficult to view photos and links that were included in retweets and replies.

X has not yet offered any feedback on the Twitter bug. Some experts, though, think it might be due to a change in how X stores media files. The bug may have affected links as well as photos due to a change X made to its URL shortening service in 2016.

For anyone who submitted images and links on X before December 2014, the bug is a huge inconvenience. Many of these tweets serve as archival accounts of significant occasions or as reminders of the past. Finding and sharing previous tweets is additionally challenging as a result of the bug.

Some users have hypothesized that the Twitter bug might represent X’s attempt to save money. However, it’s also conceivable that X is attempting to fix a technical issue.

Users of X who have encountered the issue can try the following fixes in the interim:

• Retweet the tweet or reply to it with the image or link.
• Reupload the image or link to X after saving it to your computer.
• View the image or link via a third-party service.

But the case has been told that to reduce the storage size of X.com the company head or heads have taken a call to remove not needed content from over a decade ago.
