Telegram update: Adds infinite emoji reactions and statuses

A new set of emoji reactions and emoji support on status for premium subscribers are now being added to the popular messaging app Telegram. The new update has also improved the login experience for iOS users, n-app transition animations and priority downloads on Android. Along with auto-apply support for icon packs for Android 13 users Telegram brings more features to its platform.

While announcing the fresh update the cloud-based messaging service said, “Telegram’s previous update revolutionised emoji, adding an open platform for creating custom animated emoji. This update gives you even more ways to use these new emoji to express how you’re feeling – with infinite reactions and emoji statuses.”

Infinite Reactions

Numerous reactions that were previously exclusively accessible to Telegram Premium users are now open to all users. The reaction panel has been redesigned so it can extend to fit all the new emoji. Your most frequently used reactions will appear at the top. Whereas users of Telegram Premium can choose their reactions from an endless variety of unique emoji. They can now attach up to 3 reactions each message, making it easier to select from among the countless emoji.

Emoji Statuses

To quickly let everyone know how they’re feeling or what they’re up to, premium members can add an animated emoji status that is displayed next to their name. In the chat list, on your profile, and in groups, this unique status replaces your Premium Premium Badge.

You can choose from an endless number of unique emoji or one of the seven pre-defined statuses, which change colour to match various Telegram themes. The top of the page will include the most popular choices for working, sleeping, travelling, and more.

Improved Login Flow and New Username Links

Users who often log out and back in can now get login codes by email, Sign in with Apple or Google, or by using their email address. With redesigned interfaces and enjoyable animations that are already familiar to our Android customers, signing up for or logging into Telegram for iOS is now even simpler.

Since every @username on Telegram has a unique t.me/username link, sharing your public profile, group, or channel across the internet is simple.

Anyone who wants to emphasise their username (or can’t find the / key) can do so with the new, distinctive link structure username.t.me.

Prioritise Downloads on Android

Media and files that are actively downloading can be managed in the ‘Downloads’ tab of Search or by tapping the Downloads Android icon that appears in your chat list. You can now press and hold any items in the list to reorder them and change their priority – downloading the top file first.

Android Goodies

On Android, fresh, fluid animations have been introduced for opening, shutting, and changing media. Android 13 and newer users can select a Telegram icon that is themed and will automatically match the accent colour and dark mode settings on their phone.
