Clannad
The first anime that comes to my mind is Clannad, it is based on fantasy and drama, and was made in the year 2007 by Osamu Dezaki. In this series the main characters are Nagisa Furukawa and Tomoya Ozaki. Tomoyo is a third year high school student who live with his father, on morning he met a girl Nagisa, from there the story begins and after some time he get to know that nagisa is very much alone and sick just because her friends move on. After the time passes they both came close to each other. the story ends up in a very good manner, as it was beautifully designed, the animation is awesome and the characters are lovely. From my side it is a must watch for you if you are finding some saddest anime.
Angel Beats
This is also a very good anime filled with full of Romantic and heart breaking scenes. It is also based on the environment of high school where people had experienced trauma or hardships in life and they overcome it before they pass on from their high school. It is a long story consists of 7 chapters and 2 extra chapter, as public love that series too much that production team decided to launch two more extra chapters. I can say you have to watch this series, the overall story is very well explained and the crux the story promotes it automatically.
5 centimetres per second
The Film comprises of three portions: "Cherry Blossom", "Cosmonaut", and "5 Centimeters for every Second", each period is based on Takaki Tōno's life and his associations with the young girls around him. This film was also awarded as best animated featured film in the year 2007. As the film is awarded you can understand the film is great. From my side it is a five on five star rating to this anime.
Elfen Lied
Elfen Lied is a fully long Japanese anime which was produced in the year 2005 and consists of 107 chapters in twelve volumes. It is a fiction, drama film which revolves around emotions, interactions and difference between Diclonni (imaginary character in film) and human being. You can watch this anime right now for its unique story-line characters and emotions that are catched in it.
Plastic Memories
Plastic Memories is a television anime series in the year 2015. in this film Humans move into future where androids live which are lookalike of humans. The story follows the work and life of such a group in SAI Corp's Terminal Service One office, the human hero Tsukasa Mizugaki and a Giftia named Isla. Gradually, their relationship advances, and as both of them begin to look all starry eyed at, Isla is uncovered to approach the finish of her own life expectancy. The film ends up in a very good manner. So form my side it is a must watch.
