Ratcliffe wants PSG adviser as ManUtd manager, but Chelsea offer €8m salary and €300m for transfers

Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants PSG advisor Luis Campos to take over as Sporting Director of the Club if the Manchester United takeover goes through.

The British billionaire was interested in taking over Chelsea FC earlier this year, but was defeated by American businessman Todd Boehly.

Ratcliffe has now turned his attention to Man Utd, which is currently owned by the Glazer family.

Their relationship with the club's supporters has deteriorated in recent years, and this was made worse when their involvement in the European Super League became known.

Club legend Gary Neville has spoken out against the owners more than most. After United's 4-0 defeat to Brentford earlier this season, he called on Joel Glazer to travel to England to "deflect the problems away from the club."

"You can not blame the individual player or the manager, you have to look up, you have to look up now and this week, frankly, they are going to be peppered, these players, the coach, the Sporting department, the new CEO, they are all going to be peppered.

"But there's a family over there in America that literally lets their employees take it all on themselves, and that's unforgivable.

"They need to get on a plane, Joel Glazer needs to get on a plane tomorrow, he needs to fly to Manchester and start deflecting problems away from the club and telling everyone what the hell he's up to with the football club. What's he up to?"

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the Glazer family is willing to sell Man Utd for £3.75 billion.

A few weeks earlier, a spokesman for Ratcliffe confirmed that he was interested in buying the club from the Glazers.

Ratcliffe currently owns Ligue 1 club Nice, and French newspaper Le Parisien is now reporting that he would like to put Campos in charge of the club's sporting direction if he takes control of ManUtd.

This will not be easy, however, as Chelsea are also interested in PSG's current sporting advisor.

The 58-year-old previously worked as a scout and tactical analyst for Real Madrid when Jose Mourinho was still in charge.

Campos has been praised for the work he did as Monaco's sporting director between 2013 and 2016. He moves to PSG ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Chelsea is on the lookout for a new sporting director and has also been linked with Red Bull Salzburg's Christoph Freund.

But Campos is also an option for Chelsea. Le Parisien reports that Boehly has offered him an annual salary of €8 million if he leaves PSG immediately.

Boehly would reportedly give Campos a budget of €300 million to spend on players in the two transfer windows until 2023.

The report adds that PSG would have to receive a compensation payment if they released Campos from his contract.
