Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has kicked off a major project called Dubai Reef.

The goal? To create safe homes for fish in the ocean. They’re building special structures and placing them in the water to give fish a cozy place to live. This project is massive and will cover a really big area. They’re planning to put 20,000 special Reef pieces in Dubai’s waters over four years. It’ll cover a huge area of 600 square kilometers. All these reef pieces together will be really big, more than 400,000 cubic meters.

Sheikh Hamdan said the project is really important for protecting sea animals and helping the environment worldwide, which matches what Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wants for Dubai.

Putting the first reef pieces in place is a big step for the Dubai Reef pilot project. It started with Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani and HaejooX showing it could work in 2021. Now, they’re teaming up with groups like the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and the new Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority (DECCA) to make sure it goes well.

Big companies like DP World, Dubai Chambers, Nakheel, and Emirates are helping DET with the Dubai Reef project. Helal Saeed Almarri from DET said it’s all about making Dubai more sustainable and everyone working together for a better future.

Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani from DECCA talked about how the project can help sea animals and fish, based on a test they did in 2021.

The Dubai Reef project wants to help sea life, the environment, and also make Dubai better for people. Ray Dalio, a famous investor, thinks it’s a great idea and shows Dubai’s smart planning under Sheikh Hamdan’s leadership.
