#1. End Windows Explorer Task

Usually, the errors that occur when opening the Start menu are caused by errors from the Windows Explorer running in the background. To fix this, you can delete windows explorer through the task Manager and re-add it manually.

1. First, please open the task manager on your laptop or computer, in one of the following ways:
   • Press the Windows keyboard key + x, then select task manager
   • Press the keyboard keys Ctrl + Alt + Del
   • Right-click on the taskbar then select task manager
2. If the task manager is open, look for Explorer.exe, then right-click it and select end task

4. Click the file menu at the top of the task manager, then select the Run New task option, then click browse…
5. Next, navigate to the C: Windows folder and select explorer.exe, and hit open

#2. Fix With Powershell

One of the reasons why you can’t open the start menu in Windows 10 is because of a corrupt or damaged system file. So you have to fix it through Powershell.

1. First, open the task manager, do one of the methods below:
   • Press Windows + x keyboard button, then select task manager
   • Press the keyboard keys Ctrl + Alt + Del
   • Right-click on the taskbar then select task manager
2. At the top of the task manager, click on the file, then select the option Run new task
3. Next, type Powershell, don’t forget to check the Create this task with administrative privileges and click OK
   
4. Later, the PowerShell program will open, please type the following command: SFC / scannow, then press enter, the function of the command is to find and repair damaged or corrupted files from the system

Apart from running through PowerShell, the above command can also be used in cmd, but the cmd must be opened through admin access or run as administrator.

#3. Create a New User

If you are still experiencing the same problem, it is possible that the user account you are currently using is indeed an error/damage. For that you can create a new account on Windows 10 that you are using, how do you do it?

1. First, enter Safe Mode first
2. Then open the task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc). Choose File> Run New Task. Type “cmd”. Check the “Create this task with administrative privileges” section. Then click Ok
3. Then type the command “net user username / add” in the currently opened cmd

#4. Refresh Windows 10

If the Windows 10 you are using has a problem, then you can refresh or refresh it first. How to?

1. Enter first in Safe Mode
2. Then open CMD
3. Then enter the command “Dism / Online / Cleanup-Image / restorehealth” then Enter

The default Windows application could be the reason you don’t open the start menu. Usually, this is due to a system error or a windows app with a virus.

1. Please open Powershell on your laptop or PC, how: open the task manager by pressing ctrl + shift + ESC, then press the file menu in the task manager and select run new task
2. In the column provided, please type Power Shell and check the option to create this task with administrative privileges, then press OK
3. If powershell is already open, please type Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) AppXManifest.xml”}
4. Then enter, you just have to wait until the process is complete, when it’s finished don’t forget to restart your PC or laptop

#7. Windows Update

Microsoft always updates Windows 10, apart from adding new features, of course, to fix existing bugs. It could be that the start menu cannot be opened because the version of Windows 10 you are using is an old version and there are bugs or errors, so update Windows 10.

1. In the taskbar, press the search menu, then type Windows Update
2. Then press the Check for updates menu
3. Wait for the update process to finish, make sure your internet connection is stable or fast
4. Don’t forget to restart your laptop or computer after updating windows
