Plasser American Corp - Chesapeake, VA - General Scope: Has demonstrated continued proficiency at performing Mechanic II skills at a superior level as determined by supervisor. Incumbent is able to assume the duties of the Foreman in his absence. Position Summary: Has Knowledge of layout work from blueprints, schematics or drawings to place parts in specified relationship to each other. Bolts, clips, screws or otherwise fastens parts together using common hand tools or specialized tools and equipment to accomplish a finished product. Has knowledge of use of common tools, tapes, squares and levels both standard and metric. Works independently or in small groups for assembly of systems. Assists moving, loading and un-loading equipment. Has knowledge and Ability to operate overhead cranes. Maintains tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts in order. Disassembles equipment for re-build. Assists in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as sub-frames, cylinders, pumps and motors. Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Performs other routine duties. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education: One year certificate from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge: Incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: Blueprints Proper use of hand and power tools. Mechanical Assembly Skills: Incumbent must demonstrate or participate in internal/external training programs to obtain the following skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read, and interpret, electrical schematic drawings, and engineering blueprints. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. May be required to operate material handling equipment. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Capable of working in a team environment. PI121398660... - Permanent - Full-time
