Karnataka election is not about you: Rahul Gandhi hits out at PM

Addressing an election meeting, Rahul Gandhi said, “You (PM Modi) come to Karnataka to campaign, but you don’t speak about Karnataka. You speak about yourself.”

Turuvekere (Karnataka): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he should understand that the Karnataka elections are not about him. Rahul Gandhi said this about the Prime Minister’s allegation that he was abused 91 times by Congress. Rahul Gandhi told the Prime Minister that instead of talking about himself, he should discuss the work and future plans of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka.

Addressing an election meeting in Tumakuru district here, he said, ‘You (Prime Minister Modi) come to Karnataka to campaign, but you don’t speak about Karnataka. You speak about yourself. You should tell what you did in Karnataka in the last three years. You should tell in your speeches what you will do in the next five years, what you will do for youth, education, health, and the fight against corruption.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said, ‘This election is not about you, it is about the people of Karnataka and their future. You say Congress abused you 91 times, but you did not talk about what you did for Karnataka? In your next speech, tell what you have done for Karnataka and what you will do in the next five years.

Prime Minister Modi on Saturday targeted the Congress over Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s ‘poisonous snake’ statement and said that so far the party and its leaders have abused him 91 times.
