Ben Affleck Wants His Friend Kevin Smith To Direct The Sequel Of Good Will Haunting

The movie creator Kevin Smith has announced that the widely anticipated drama Good Will Hunting has been aimed at the stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

Smith was last to direct Jay & Silent Bob Remake, the stoner comedy sequel, offering a litany of shocking camels, including Damon and Affleck shows.

Good Will Hunting has seen Damon as a concierge at the M.I.T., who happens to be a mathematical genius, but a psychologist needs support to add meaning and purpose to his life. The movie was directed by Gus Van Sant and was assisted by Affleck, Robin Williams, Stellan Skarsgård, Casey Affleck and Minnie Driver. Both Affleck and Damon, a screenplay that won the duo an Academy Award, wrote this film.

Williams also won for his role in the film as a counselor who helps Will make his life a reality. Good Will Hunting was nominated for the best picture, actor, actress, and director and cemented as a critical sweetheart.

The Transformation Of Film

Before it came to life, the iconic film had a fascinating transformation. Initially, the series was supposed to be a thriller, with the main character staying the same but with the twist of being an FBI cryptanalyst. The film also had Michael Mann directing at one point, with the director wanting to refashion Damon and turn his character and close friends into car robbers. Even Van Sant, who eventually led the film, called for a change of himself, which would destroy Afflecks character Chuckie in a construction accident, but the concept was ultimately dismantled.

Smith With Damon And Affleck

Smith was no stranger to Damon and Affleck’s work. The films Dogma, Chasing Amy, Jersey Girl, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back were all put together by the director. Through isolation, the writer/director is still working hard to complete sequel stories, clerks 3 and Mallrats 2. Only recently, he announced that Twilight of the Mallrats is the title, and the former is nearly entirely at Quick Stop, the leading site of the original film. Both of the original films were not financially successful, but after reaching home video, they formed cults.

Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting is a drama beautifully written, directed, and performed, with a genuinely dramatic turn from the late Williams, which is irresistible to the heart. While Smith has proven himself to be a versatile and talented director, his sensitivity does not match well with the characters and the plot of the movie.

Van Sant is a director who understands character and emotion better and has shown that he is a much better choice for the subject. While it’s interesting to imagine how the movie would have worked if Smith was at the helm, it seems he doesn’t believe like he was always the right option. Unless he was not offered the chance, it is impossible to tell that Good Will Hunting will have the same emotional weight to this day and praise it.
