Velma has been governed by creator Charlie and stars Mindy as the sleuth. Meanwhile, Constance Wu & Ming-Na Wen also stars in the animated series. The energetic prequel is designed for the audiences, but the reviews of the show’s first run show a depressing divide in reception. Velma was the first the debut Steven Universe-Esque animation on the channel. It’s based on the character from the original animated series that was developed by Hanna Barbera. The idea of a teenage female character is more than likely going to be teased throughout her life. As it has been around for such a long time, there are now numerous parodies of this cartoon show.

Exactly when will Velma HBO Max be released?

This series will be released on 12 January 2023.  The first season has a production period of 65 episodes, and each episode will be 9-10 minutes long. (as it is filmed in the Philippines) While there are no advertisements during the first season, Hbo Max will start airing up to a dozen commercials, which will be paid for by an independent advertising agency.

The show tells the origin story of Velma, the brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. It begins as Velma is still in high school, and she and her friends began to investigate various mysteries. Her father left her a book with lessons and some real-life cases, which are going to be part of her studies in the series. The show contains elements of comedy, drama, and action all in one.

People love this cartoon show for its amazing plot and especially for its different tone in comparison to its predecessors. Although, there are a lot of critics stating that this series is just a copy of Scooby-Doo, which is somehow a bit far-fetched I still respect its style from any other cartoon shows that have been produced in recent years. 

Who are the director’s favorite characters and why?

The favorite characters of the debut directors of the show are Daphne and Velma. But, we can also see that many people are also fans of Constance Wu. His favorite character is Velma as he thinks she is best in all comedies. He can’t stand Scooby-Doo and believes it should be replaced with Velma. 

What themes does the Velma HBO Max explore?

The themes explored in the series are dark comedy, action, and drama. While the show is quite small, the person who is directing the show said that it will be a little darker than the previous installments in this series. And of course, the critics and audience have a diverse range of issues covered by this series. Another really interesting thing is the fact that we can look forward to these new adventures in the form of 90-minute episodes instead of 12-13 minute episodes like previous installments had. This proves that HBO Max has great plans for the future.

What do the reviewers think of Velma HBO Max?

The reviewers have given the series a 3.7 out of 5 and they have given it a rating of 69%. The critics’ main issue is that the series feels like an amateur project fren you look at it. They even said that it felt like something was missing. One of the reviewers has said that the series has the chance to be great, but it could use a budget increase and some extra work. Another reviewer has stated that he was quite excited about the show, but he is pretty sure that this show won’t be good for any age group as there are just too many jokes in every episode.
