With a new release date, the sci-fi film “65” will compete with “Shazam 2”.

The Columbia Pictures sci-fi Film “65” has a new release date. A new release date of March 2023, has been established for the movie, which stars Adam Driver, and just released a trailer. This information comes after several additional changes and postponements to the film’s release. “65” was originally scheduled to open in theatres on March 10, 2023, more than two years after its initial announcement and Driver’s casting as its leading man. When it was first announced in 2020, the film’s initial release date was set for May 13, 2022, despite other rumors suggesting an April release. Most of the movie’s specifics have remained a mystery since its initial announcement, and fans had to wait until last week for the release of the official trailer.

Excepted story of the movie

In “65”, Mills is a humanoid astronaut from another planet who is carrying 35 passengers on an exploratory voyage until his ship is struck by an asteroid, causing Mills to crash land on Earth. However, the title refers to Mills’ arrival on Earth 65 million years ago, during the time of the dinosaurs. Mills finds himself in a battle for survival against towering T-Rexes who seem to have stepped out of Jurassic Park as well as other dinosaurs with little equipment and armament on their side. The sole survivor of the accident, a young girl named Koa, is similarly guarded by Mills.

Star Cast of the movie

  • Adam Driver as Mills
  • Ariana Greenblatt as Koa
  • Chloe Coleman

With a new release date, “65” will battle “Shazam 2”

The official release date of “65” has been moved as part of Sony’s overall schedule adjustment. The film, which had been delayed by a year from its original April 2022 release date, is now being pushed back just one week, presumably to avoid competition with the highly anticipated slasher sequel “Scream VI”. However, the date change to March 17, 2023, puts “65” in direct competition with Shazam! After the October release of Black Adam, the next tentpole superhero film in the DC Universe will be Fury of the Gods.

Is the industry losing trust in the DCU?

Shifting a Science Fiction tentpole film to the same weekend as a Shazam! sequel! Fury of the Gods is, to say the least, perplexing. Both films appear to be attempting to appeal to the same demographic, so Sony’s decision would indicate that they are confident in 65’s ability to compete on that battleground despite not being linked to an established IP. This could be due in part to the box office performance of the original 2019 Shazam!, which performed well enough to warrant a sequel but was still the lowest-grossing pre-pandemic DCU film, grossing $140 million domestically.

Location of shooting of “65”

The production company is sending a film crew to Golden Bay for a couple of days to help them determine which parts of the North Island are best suited for filming. The director and some of his crew were also spotted in Queenstown, where they were scouting potential filming locations near Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables. This will be the first film to be shot in New Orleans in 2020. Filming is set to begin in January and will last two months.

Release date of the movie

Sony Pictures Releases plans to release 65 in theatres in the United States on March 17, 2023. The movie was supposed to come out on May 13, 2022, but the date was postponed to April 29, 2022, then April 14, 2023, then April 28, 2023, and March 10, 2023.

In the Conclusion,

“65” is an upcoming science fiction film produced by Sam Raimi. Scott Beck and Bryan Woods wrote and directed the film. The first trailer for the film, which reveals a lot about the plot, was released in February 2023. Adam Driver plays a significant role in the film. He will play a character who is an astronaut. After the Star Wars franchise, The Driver returned to the science fiction genre.
