The plot of this series is based on the life of Benito “Benny” Santoro, a mobster who is trying to clean up his act to send his kid(s) to college. While he is away, some dirty work takes place at his family’s restaurant. 

When Benny returns, he finds that his daughter(s) have been taken hostage and forcing them to blackmail him. Meanwhile, the FBI has infiltrated the organization, and sent in an undercover agent (Emmy Rossum), posing as a married Italian woman named Maria, who is Benny’s niece.
