Morbius: Worst Marvel Series Opening Since New Mutants

Morbius, the Living Vampire is one of Marvel’s most underrated characters. When it was announced that a Morbius movie was in the works, many fans were excited. However, the recently released Morbius trailer has been met with mixed reactions. Some people are calling it the worst Marvel series-opening since New Mutants.

When you compare Morbius to other Marvel series openers like Jessica Jones or Daredevil Season 1, you can see that the problem with Morbius is that there is no sense of character. The trailer tries to make you care about Morbius’ condition and struggle with blood lust and anger, but it fails because the series has not set up his character at all.

Do you know about the release date of the Morbius Series:

This series will be released on 1 April 2022. Also, the series has 2 seasons and each season consists of 20 episodes. Daredevil aka Matt Murdock is a character in the Marvel Universe. This character is created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett. He first appeared in Daredevil #1 comic book series.

The real name of this character is Matthew Michael Murdock. Mutants are humans who possess mutant powers. Jessica Jones is a female superhero in the Marvel Comic book franchise. She is known as Jewel, Josie, and Jessica Jones, having appeared in different costumes identity-wise throughout her series’ publication history, with her longest-running alias being Jessica Jones (more commonly known as Jewel).

Here is the plot of Morbius Series discussed:

The character, Morbius the Living Vampire, was created by writer Gerry Conway and artist Gene Colan. He first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101 – 103 (December 1971 – February 1972).

Dr. Michael Morbius is a scientist who suffers from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism, the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength, the drawbacks being his hideous appearance and purple-colored skin. He battles Spider-Man many times in attempts to control his urges and seek redemption for his crimes.”

The Name of Cast & Characters of Morbius Series:

  • Jared Leto · Dr. Michael Morbius
  • Matt Smith · Milo
  • Adria Arjona · Martine Bancroft
  • Jared Harris · Dr. Emil Nicholas
  • Tyrese Gibson · Agent Simon

What inspired you to write the Morbius series of books and comics?

The series is inspired by Marvel Comics of 1967. The main inspiration was characters like Morbius, Nick Fury, and some old style of Spider-Man. At that time, Marvel Comics were one of the most popular comic books around the world and now we are reviving those old comics for fans who remember those iconic moments in a new graphic way for modern television audiences.

Why do you think readers are so fascinated by vampires, and particularly Morbius?

The fascination with vampires is due to the classic and iconic look of the vampire character, who look like a human but have some superpowers that make them dangerous. Also, to have everlasting life seems like a dream come true for most people in the world.

What do you think is so appealing about Morbius as a character?

The appeal of Morbius as a character is that he’s not your typical vampire. He’s not all good or evil, he’s just trying to survive with his unique condition and help other people around him as much as possible. (Please check my post about the Morbius Series: Character Review).

What’s your favorite thing about the current installments of Morbius comics?

My favorite thing about the new iterations of the comics is that we have a really good balance of action, emotion, and humor. We have some very enticing characters from all over the Marvel Universe including Sigourney Weaver as Martine Bancroft, Jared Leto as Milo and Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft’s assistant. I think that Morbius will be a great addition to any book collection or comic fan’s library.

How does your writing process work? Do you plan everything in advance?

I usually write a script and then go through it to add and take out stuff that I think is fun or unnecessary. I then have an editor who shares my opinions about the script and I work with them to make the script great.

What challenges did you experience while writing A Morbius?

The biggest challenges that I faced while writing Morbius was not being able to write the scripts due to switching between different characters in other projects, which lead to less continuity among the story arcs of the series. Also, doing research for a character like Dr.

Are there any particular themes or messages that you hope to communicate?

The main message in Morbius is to never give up and to find the strength to keep living despite all of the challenges we have in life. My hope is that the show is loved by fans who have read the comics, and that they love elements of classic horror movies like Night of the Living Dead. I also hope this will be a launching pad for more projects with Marvel Television Studios down the line.
