Birds of Prey is a follow up from Suicide Squad, a movie that debases its antagonists mission with sympathy-stopping stakes, but this girl squad film is deliberately striving to do something unusual.

The movie Birds of Prey is not about to seek to destroy the world but it is about striving to protect a girl named Cassandra Cain, from the parts of Gotham City crime lord Black Mask and perhaps, in Harley’s case, create a bit crime in the course.

“It’s more restrained than other superhero films for sure,” Margot Robbie (aka Harley Quinn) says Den of Geek and other outlets associated with a Birds of Prey set call in March.

Robbie said that her first pitch for Birds of Prey was it should be no larger than mafia-level or gang level. It should all live in a very diminutive terrestrial environment and the stakes should feel very special.

They should undergo life-or-death, but not the life of death of thousands of personalities, just the people that we used time with the camera. Robbie’s connection of the stakes not as lower, but as more contained is a significant one.

“I’m just so desensitized to understanding a world, a city being smashed,” tells Robbie. “I’ve noticed it so many times on screen by this feature. And VFX is so exceptional at this feature, it can’t even astound me with the naturalness of it anymore. I just don’t want to see stakes that large because I’m sort of indifferent to it.”

Stakes do not expect anything if we do not care and, when you view whole cities smashed or whole worlds vanish, it can be difficult to explain to a spectator what that implies on a sensitive phase.

Further, Robbie adds, “It’s a far more restrained story but it doesn’t actually take away from the stakes. It still feels true, very necessary. Although that was a large part. I was just exhausted of viewing billions of structures falling down.”
