The First LIQUID Robot : A Revolutionary Breakthrough

Miniature soft-bodied Robots, controlled magnetically, offer non-invasive access to confined spaces, suitable for tasks like minimally invasive surgery and targeted drug delivery. However, current elastomer-based and fluid-based models have limitations: elastomer robots lack deformability for tight spaces, while fluid-based ones struggle with unstable shapes.

This study introduces non-Newtonian fluid-based slime robots, combining elastomer adaptability with fluid deformability. These robots maneuver narrow channels (1.5 mm diameter) and perform tasks like grasping objects, transporting materials, monitoring human motion, and repairing circuits. This research enhances soft-bodied robot designs for future biomedical and electronic applications.
