Some people believe that a rattlesnake’s Rattle contains pebbles, similar to beads in a baby’s rattle. The rattle is actually made of hollow scales on the snake’s tail tip. These scales are only loosely linked. When a rattlesnake vibrates its tail, the scales strike each other quickly, creating a buzzing sound.
