MORRISONVILLE (Heartland Newsfeed) — According to recent joint analysis of standardized testing by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), area school districts have a lot of room for improvement.

A recently updated report card of all Illinois school districts from 2017 shows that 15.5 percent of Morrisonville Grade School students are meeting Common Core Expectations and are ready for the next grade. 33 percent of students nearly met expectations, 31 percent partially meeting expectations and 21 percent did not meet expectations, noting that they are not yet ready to advance to the next grade level, college or work. The 15.5 percent Passage Rate was a decline from 20.8 percent in 2016 and 25 percent in 2015. 34 percent of elementary Students Statewide Passed their testing in 2017.

Among those reported within the region, Raymond Grade School has a passage rate of 24.2 percent, North Mac Intermediate (Girard) 28.1 percent, Gregory Intermediate (Moweaqua) 28.3 percent, Beckemeyer Elementary (Hillsboro) 38.2 percent and North Elementary (Nokomis) 54.2 percent. Scores were not immediately available for Lincoln Elementary (Pana) as of this report.

Scores are more promising for Morrisonville Junior High School, as 39.5 percent of students passed math and 57.9 percent of students passed English and language arts testing, both exceeding state averages.

For math, 32 percent of MJHS students nearly met expectations with 18 percent partially meeting expectations and 11 percent not meeting expectations, noting that they are not yet ready to advance to the next grade level, college or work. The 39.5 percent passage rate is a considerable improvement compared to 16.7 percent in 2016 and 10.6 percent in 2015. 31 percent of junior high students statewide passed math testing in 2017.

Among those reported within the region, Pana Junior High has a passage rate of 16.7 percent, Central A&M Middle (Assumption) 22.7 percent, Hillsboro Junior High 24 percent and Lincolnwood Junior High 35 percent. Scores were not immediately available for Nokomis Junior High or North Mac Middle (Girard) as of this report.

For English and language arts, 13 percent of MJHS exceeded expectations and roughly 45 percent met expectations, showing they are ready to move on to their next grade level. 24 percent nearly met expectations, 8 percent partially met expectations and 11 percent did not meeting expectations, noting that they are not yet ready to advance to the next grade level, college or work. The 57.9 percent passage rate is a considerable improvement compared to 35.8 percent in 2016 and 29.2 percent in 2015. 37 percent of junior high students statewide passed English and language arts testing in 2017.

Among those reported within the region, Pana Junior High has a passage rate of 30.3 percent, Hillsboro Junior High 32 percent and Lincolnwood Junior High (Raymond) 32 percent. Scores were not immediately available for Nokomis Junior High or North Mac Middle (Girard) as of this report.
